Vermont Facts

Vermont is the 45th largest state in the United States and the 14th to be admitted to the Union. Vermont was admitted to the Union on March 4th, 1791. Vermont is situated in the New England region of the northeastern United States of America. Vermont is the only New England state with no coastline along the Atlantic Ocean.

Vermont is notable for its Green Mountains in the west and Lake Champlain in the northwest. Vermont is bordered by Massachusetts to the south, New Hampshire to the east, New York to the west and the Canadian province of Quebec to the north.

Vermont is famous for its scenery and dairy products. Vermont is the leading producer of maple syrup in the United States. The state capital in Montpelier and the largest city is Burlington.

Vermont's nickname is the Green Mountain State.
