New Mexico is the 5th largest state in the United States and the 47th to be admitted to the Union. New Mexico was admitted to the Union on January 6th, 1912. New Mexico is situated in the southwestern region of the United States of America.

New Mexico shares its borders with Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona. The states New Mexico, Colorada, Arizona and Utah come together at the Four Corners in the northwestern corner of New Mexico.

The landscape ranges from wide, rose-coloured deserts to broken mesas to hig, snow-capped peaks.

New Mexico's nickname is the Land of Enchantment.
