Georgia
Georgia is the 24th largest state in the United States and the 4th to be admitted to the Union. Georgia was admitted to the Union on January 2nd, 1788. Georgia was one of the original Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution
Georgia is bordered on the south by Florida, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina, on the west by Alabama and on the north by Tennessee and North Carolina. Georgia is often associated with the novel and Oscar winning film "Gone with the Wind". The northern part of the state is in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Georgia has 63 parks, of which 48 are state parks and 15 that are historic sites. Georgia also has numerous state wildlife preserves. The state capital is Atlanta.
Georgia's nickname is the Peach State. |
