Delaware

Delaware is the 49th largest state in the United States and the 1st to be admitted to the Union. Delaware was admitted to the Union on December 7th, 1787. Delaware was one of the original Thirteen Colonies and is known as the "First State".

Delaware is the second smallest state in the United States after Rhode Island. Delaware is bounded to the north by Pennsylvania, to the east by the Delaware River, Delaware Bay, New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean and to the west and south by Maryland.

Delaware is on a level plain with the highest point located at Ebright Azimut. Delaware does not have any national parks but does have a number of places of interest including botanical gardens, museums, wildlife refuges, parks, lighthouses and other historic places. Delaware also boasts the longest twin span suspension bridge in the world.

Delaware's nickname is the First State.
