Colorado

Colorado is the 3rd largest state in the United States and the 38th to be admitted to the Union. Colorado was admitted to the Union on August 1st, 1876. Colorado is situated in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States of America and can be considered to be part of the Western, Southwestern, Midwestern and Central Regions of the United States.

The state capital of Colorado is Denver. Colorado's climate is cool and dry compared to the rest of the United States. Colorado often has some extreme weather with thunder storms being quite common east of the Continental divide. Hail is also a common occurance.

Colorado has a wide range of national parks including the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument and the Mesa Verde National Park. Colorado's nickname is the Centenniel State.
